Set on a rocky hillside overlooking the sea near Rethymno, Crete, the project consists of a two-level holiday residence on an 11,000 sq.m. plot, featuring a private swimming pool and spacious outdoor living areas.
The building follows a linear layout along the natural contours of the steep terrain, minimizing interventions in the landscape while making the most of its orientation and panoramic views. The upper level accommodates the main living areas and three bedrooms, while the lower level, partially integrated into the hillside, includes additional bedrooms and auxiliary spaces.
Large openings create a direct connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A pergola extending from the semi-outdoor area provides a shaded living space, connecting the residence with the pool and surrounding landscape.
The material palette combines natural stone cladding in earthy tones on the lower level and landscape walls with white plaster finishes on the upper volumes. Mediterranean planting, mainly consisting of drought-tolerant species, complements the design and helps integrate the residence into its natural setting.
